Once famous for its fruit and vegetable market that served London, the market has moved to new premises in Leyton and Spitalfields has changed. It is now an up-and-coming area. The old covered market square now houses a series of stalls each selling a different cuisine in addition to a more conventional market filled with a fascinating variety of art and craft stalls. What were once market workers'' apartments are currently the subject of a residential development programme. Spitalfields is right next to Liverpool Street station and Broadgate so it is popular with workers in the financial industry. Brick Lane and the cultural delights of “Banglatown” is nearby - one of the best places in London to get a curry. It is also near Whitechapel, World famous as the only East End Street on the Monopoly board.
