Famous for being home to the Moorfields Eye Hospital and the Honourable Artillery Company. The St Luke's area is known to have a significant number of local authority, and ex-local authority, apartments. And this may explain why the area is less talked about compared to say Hoxton or Angel. However Old Street Station is close by which connects with Liverpool St and City. It is close to the up and coming area of Hoxton and Jamie Oliver's restaurant is just off City Rd. Property prices in St Luke's are generally lower compared to Clerkenwell or Angel and some people think they represent good investments. It is also worth taking a look at some of the ex-local authority housing stock. After all, the ex-local authority Trellick Tower in Notting Hill is now a design icon and highly fashionable place to live. Robert Cargill, a resident of The Chocolate Studios writes: “I find the location (of The Chocolate Studios) both quiet and remote yet close to the local amenities such as The Tube, work and leisure. The canals are great for strolling next to. And Islington High St is a ten minute walk. It's a great location - secluded yet right at the heart of things as well.” Also Mr Jean Paul Sanchez, another resident of the Chocolate Studios writes “The positives are there is very good transport links (Old St tube, lots of buses) close to the west end of the city and subjectively, the best area of London for new bars, clubs, restaurants...basically a fantastic scene!“. The negatives are there are not many really, otherwise we wouldn't have moved there ;) and the area may have a higher percent of local authority housing, but other than potential eye-sores, this has never really been a negative Notable buildings in St Lukes include: The Lexington Building (Evening Standard New Homes Winner 1999); Imperial Hall; Chocolate Studios. Tube: Old Street.
