Clerkenwell originally took its name from the Clerk's Well in Farringdon Lane. Today it is a busy residential and business area.Clerkenwell is similar to Finsbury but busier. There are more developments, more businesses and more loft/warehouse conversions and modern apartments. Clerkenwell has lots of history; the Knights Hospitallers had their headquarters there during the Crusades. Now both The Guardian and ITN have their headquarters in Clerkenwell. The main streets are St John St and Clerkenwell Road. Hatton Garden is famous for its jewellery shops. Leather Lane has a popular and thriving market that operates five days a week. One benefit a lot of people like about Clerkenwell is that it is very centrally located between the West End, Angel, St Paul's and Liverpool St. So it should be possible to enjoy a range of nightlife and have quick access to work in the City.Notable Clerkenwell developments include: City Pavilion, Britton St; Brewery Sq; Stirling Court, The Paramount Building and The Ingersoll Building, all on St John St.
