This is the very heart of London's business and financial district, although there are limited residential properties available, the area is steeped in the history of old London. The City of London, an area of one square mile, was the original London. The City is a distinct entity with its own governing body and is nestled within the greater metropolis. The City is quiet at the weekends and the nearest residential areas are Spitalfields, Barbican and Smithfield. One residential development of note is London House on Aldersgate St. Tubes: Bank, Mansion House, Cannon St, Monument, Fenchurch St, Liverpool St.
