City of London Borough is situated in the original site of London - the Roman city of Londinium. It is the oldest part of London, the second oldest being Westminster which dates back to 1065. The area has the densest concentration of offices in the central postcodes, and therefore in the capital. It is the financial centre of London and one of the most historically rich areas of the capital. It is also home to the Barbican, The Bank of England, Tower 42 (originally the Nat West Tower) and the Guildhall. Located at London Wall, The City is also home to The Museum of London, described as the largest, most comprehensive city museum in the world. The London Museum tells the story of London from prehistoric times to the present day. City of London Borough has had many famous residents most notably Paradise Lost author John Milton, Samuel Pepys and Jack the Ripper. It is now home to many of the top names in business such as Nicola Horlick - nicknamed 'Supermum' by the press Eddie George, the former Chairman of the Bank of England.
